Time Out New York Small Spaces
STUDIO APARTMENT FOR A FASHION MAVEN
Berry & Linné was asked by Time Out New York to propose a renovation of a studio apartment for a typical New York personality: a 27-year-old fashionista. The project was included in the annual Time Out New York Home Design Issue.
The primary element of the design is a continuous translucent storage wall along the length of the apartment. (The kitchen – which the client never uses – is incorporated into the storage wall as a walk-in closet.) While providing much needed closet space, the translucent wall also produces a variable visual effect by revealing the shapes and colors of the closet’s contents. To make the most of this feature, the client’s wardrobe is arranged chromatically. As color trends change from season to season, the mood of the apartment changes, too.
